ONE of the country's biggest local authorities was last night forced to defend giving the green light for 18 new houses in a community already blighted by two 'ghost' housing estates. Galway City Councillors have been accused of making “inappropriate planning decisions” and letting developer interests influence their choices when voting on a new seven-year plan for the city. A draft of the 2010-1017 City Development Plan was finally agreed on at City Hall on Monday night in a mammoth meeting of Galway City Council that concluded just before the midnight deadline.
