Family Friendly Climate Fest and Outdoor Film Screening
Join us for a Family Friendly Climate Fest and Outdoor Film Screening
Stop Climate Chaos, of which An Taisce is a member, will collaborate with Happenings to host 'Dinner with Darwin' on July 22nd!
With yoga, delicious food, a Climate Fest, a speakers panel and a movie, there's something for everyone.
From 5:30pm, you can engage in 'Climate Fest', an interactive exhibition creatively exploring what can be done in Ireland to tackle climate change. Help build a 'divestasaurus' at the Divestment area, don a sun costume and race your pals at our 'Run on Sun/Solar' area, and cycle your way to a fossil fuel free future in the Transport area. Don't forgot to pick up your Green Passport on entry and get stamps along the way! Finish off at the Tree of Earth Love, where you can write a personal 'message-on-a-ribbon' to the members of the Citizens Assembly, telling them how you want to see Ireland take action on climate.
Then why not treat yourself to a bite to eat from the Happy Pear, before settling yourself on the grass to listen to a panel of speakers discuss what is being done and what can be done to prevent runaway climate change.
On the panel you'll hear:
- A Stop Climate Chaos representative explain who SCC are and what they do
- The Happy Pear talk about how they're making the world a healthier, happier place
- And finally Chris Darwin, great great grandson of Charles Darwin, who will espouse the benefits of dietary shifts for the planet.
All that before the *sun sets and the screen is lit with images of Wall-E, the last robot left on Earth, who spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. That is until he meets a search robot named EVE, who realizes that Wall-E has stumbled upon the key to the planet's future...
Wall-E is a fun movie for all the family, but not without a subtle message. August 2nd marks Earth's Overshoot Day, the day when the planet's demand for ecological resources and services exceeds what our ecosystems can regenerate in that year. Wall-E reminds us of the need to rethink our own consumption before it's too late.
