Biodiversity in the wider landscape
Conserving Biodiversity in designated Natura 2000 sites is not in itself enough to halt the loss of Biodiversity by 2010. Much needs to be done to integrate nature conservation in to all our activities, from agriculture and forestry, energy and transport, to planning, industry and waste management.
This is to be done through the integration of biodiversity considerations in to a wide range of policy intruments. The mail tools for this are the Environmental Impact Assesment (EIA) Directive and the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Directive.
