Natural Environment Research & Casework Officer
An Taisce, The National Trust for Ireland, is seeking a ‘Natural Environment Research & Casework Officer’ May 2008
An Taisce is a non governmental organization of charitable status,
run to protect Ireland’s heritage. This is done through the management
of a number of properties, through environmental education and
advocacy, by promoting debate on environmental issues and seeking
improvements in management of the built and natural environment. An
Taisce also has a prescribed role in the planning process, forestry,
and aquaculture licensing. There is a small team of professional
employees and we are currently seeking a ‘Natural Environment Research & Casework Officer’.
The
successful applicant will fulfill An Taisce’s statutory role in
relation to afforestation and aquaculture licensing; will monitor
policy implementation in respect of nature and water conservation
codes; will respond to incidences affecting the natural environment as
relevant, and maintain a database of all casework. The position will
also involve using casework to inform policy recommendations,
consultation responses, and initiate research projects.
The
position is offered on a one year contract for a full time staff member
to be based in Dublin City Centre. The successful applicant will have
relevant qualifications in environmental or natural sciences (or
similar), will have experience in the environment sector, a good
understanding of both ecology and current environment policy, and will
be a good communicator.
