An Taisce is one of two Environmental Pillar representatives who sit on the Biodiversity Forum. The Environmental Pillar is made up of 28 national environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who work together to represent the views of the Irish environmental sector. While An Taisce represents the Environmental Pillar within the Biodiversity Forum, this submission reflects the views of An Taisce alone.

Parking levy on out-of-town retail outlets would raise more than €16m a year - An Taisce's Pre-Budget submission

Implementing Government policy for a parking levy to help level the playing field between out-of-town retail outlets and town centre shops would yield at least €16m a year, An Taisce has told Government in its pre-budget submission.

As the National Parks & Wildlife Service explains, "Ireland is home to 28 species of land mammal, over 400 species of birds, more than 4,000 plant species and over 12,000 species of insect. If we want all of this to survive, we must ensure that there are enough suitable areas for all these species to flourish.

An Taisce will go to the High Court in London in December to seek a judicial review challenging the legality of the decision by Ed Davey, the British energy minister, to grant permission to build the plant, which will be 150 miles from the Irish coast ...
