The Organisation
An Taisce is a non government organisation run by its members with a passion to protect Ireland’s cultural heritage. The government has given An Taisce a prescribed role in the planning process and the organisation channels public submissions and appeals. We are also involved managing a number of properties, in environmental education, promoting debate on environmental issues and campaigning for more sustainable government of the built and natural environment.There is a small team of professional employees and an army of members and volunteers but we need experienced office help to manage all this.
The Person
The successful candidate for Office Manager will be the first interface of An Taisce with our members and the public. Helping our members can be a most interesting part of the job and the Manager must have a competent and obliging manner. The Office Manager based at The Tailors’ Hall near Christchurch will have had at least 5 years recent experience of managing an office and be fully competent in maintaining files and data bases. Must be able to show experience and skills with office computer applications. Typing an advantage though not essential. Updating our web site will be part of the job but training will be given if necessary.The Job
The Office Manager may be asked to:- Manage incoming post, e-mail and phone calls from members and the public.
- Maintain membership database
- Disseminate information as required,
- Update web site
- Assist other staff and officers of the Board of Management as required
- Maintain staff manuals and staff records
- Manage volunteers
- Take bookings for functions at The Tailors’ Hall and work with the Properties Officer in caring for the building.
- Undertake other tasks as required.
