Due to a printing error a motion was omitted from the AGM notice. The motion is as follows and will be taken at the AGM:

Received on 31st July 2017 and Proposed by John Sweeney, Seconded by Phil Kearney.

"Conscious of the importance of the Education Unit to the overall well-being of An Taisce, providing 99% of its employees and a similarly substantial proportion of its income and expenditure, as well as providing its principal source of goodwill, the members resolve that no transfer of financial, property or IPR assets be made between An Taisce and any new company as part of any arrangement involving the Education Unit without the prior approval of the Board, Council and the wider membership. Members further resolve that following the conclusion of the Vision-Mission process, and the outcomes it reveals in terms of ethos, values, identity and aspirations for the organisation, further legal and financial advice be sought to provide a ‘ring fenced’ status for the Education Unit within the parent organisation which ensures financial security for both parts of An Taisce."

Unfortunately, An Taisce's Articles require 21 days' notice for the Annual General Meeting but allows motions to be submitted up to 30 days before the meeting. This does not allow sufficient time to reliably prepare the final agenda, and check, proof, print, pack and post it. There has been an awareness of this deficiency for some time and have proposals to rectify it are in a new draft constitution which will be brought to a General Meeting in 2018. The Board would like to apologise for the confusion caused, and apologise to the proposers for the omission of the motion from the agenda.

Kind Regards

James Leahy

Secretary
