About the Role

The Education Unit is a component of An Taisce with over 80 members of staff. The Director of the unit reports to the CEO.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Education Unit’s strategy
  • Ensure that the Unit is adequately resourced and organised to meet all operational needs
  • Maintain effective internal controls and management systems
  • Establish and maintain high standards of ethical and social responsibility
  • Keep the CEO and the Board of An Taisce, as appropriate, informed of all matters relating to the Unit so as to enable informed decisions to be made
  • Communicate effectively with the Unit’s employees, stakeholders and the public
  • Ensure there is coordination with other units of An Taisce in any calls for submissions by Government Departments
  • Ensure the integrity of all public statements by the Unit
  • Liaise with the CEO & Board, attending meetings, including Board meetings, where necessary
  • Manage HR and Child Protection Policies and Procedure
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, develop and maintain control systems, environmental, health and safety policies, and the risk register to the highest standards
