Appraisal

This mid-19th century house occupies a prominent location on south bank of Newport River as you leave the town in the direction of Westport. It is on the Western Greenway route. This building has been vacant for a number of years and does not appear to be maintained, with vegetation now engulfing the property. Most of the external fabric remains, but there are obvious signs of deterioration. There is no immediate danger of collapse but the condition is such that unless urgent remedial works are carried out the building will sharply deteriorate. This building urgently requires new uses to be identified to prevent integral features being gradually lost.
