Council

What is Council?
An Taisce holds Council meetings several times a year. Council has two main areas of responsibility: oversight of An Taisce’s Board, and providing a forum for discussing and feeding into the development of An Taisce’s evidence-based environment, heritage and planning policy. Council also provides a space for Local Association delegates to raise and discuss matters of shared concern.

Council is made up of delegates of Local Associations, members elected at the AGM, co-opted members, the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson, the Secretary, the President, and the immediate Past President. All members of Council are members of An Taisce. You can see the current list of Council members below.

    Compost for Nature

Our Compost for Nature guide is now available! For years, the garden and landscape industry has been selling us peat moss as “compost.” In reality, this is peat-moss that is nutrient-poor and bad for our peatlands. The good news is that there is another more sustainable way to nurture soil health AND reduce waste - composting!
