None of the original fabric remains other than the external walls. It is suffering from structural problems that could lead to full or partial collapse, and there is an immediate threat of further deterioration. The stables are a complex of outbuildings dating from mid 18th century, located between the now restored castle and Rathfarnham village. It is currently in a derelict condition and undermining the setting of the castle. It should be a priority to secure to prevent further deterioration in a manner that would complement the castle.
