Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht consult on their Strategy for 2015–2018 While it is appropriate that the new Statement of Strategy should address commitments under the Programme for Government, it is considered that this should be part of a wider integrated strategy. The Statement of Strategy 2011-2014 was produced at a time when the public service agenda was driven by spending cuts and job promotion. It is clearly lacking in long-term strategic objectives. The review of the Statement of Strategy 2011-2014 should be an opportunity to update and redefine overarching core objectives for heritage and culture including addressing climate change and the lack of resources dedicated to our cultural institutions. Many of these issues are currently given no consideration. The Statement of Strategy 2011-2014 failed to even to mention climate change. Download the submission here.
