Judicial Review proceedings by An Taisce on Licence granted to Exola DAC a subsidiary/associated company of Providence Resources PLC, for oil and gas exploration at Barryroe south of Co Cork coast granted by Department of Communications Climate Action and Environment in October 2018.

An Taisce has initiated Judicial review proceedings in regard to the above.

The licence relates to sonar and other testing and sea bed clearance at Barryroe south of the Old Head of Kinsale.

The case was initiated ex parte by An Taisce on the 12th Nov. Following service of the other parties the case was cited for mention on 20th Nov, and an adjournment until 11th Dec has been granted by Mr Justice Noonan.

The basis of the case as cited in court in affidavits opened in the ex parte application relates to compliance with the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEA) Directive, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive and Habitats Directive in the licence application and consent process.
