The Historic and Archaeological Heritage Bill will be introduced in the Dáil today, Tuesday 25th April. This Bill shall replace the anti-Heritage infused 2004 Amendment to the National Monuments Act and is thus to be welcomed. Despite the efforts of the Joint Oireachtas Committee the Bill, however, remains flawed.
An Taisce recently hosted a symposium on the Bill in the Mansion House. The panel of speakers, mostly of an environmental legal background, identified the strengths and flaws of the Bill.
