Green Communities Seed Collection Workshop: 13th September 2014.

This workshop revisited the school garden and poly-tunnel that Hubert Martin manages on behalf of WALK and Scoil Colm. The work shop involved looking at the collection of Tomato and Melon Seeds. Aspects of collection, fermentation, separation, and storage were covered by Hubert. Lunch was prepared for the Green Communities volunteers by Crumlin Youth Reach, and we were treated to a vegetable Thai Curry prepared using vegetables from the garden itself. It was a wonderfully warm and sunny end of summer day, and very enjoyable to be able to eat outside on the grass before the weather of an oncoming winter forces us all to spend much of our time indoors. Attendance was good with around 25 people present. As well as training from Hubert there was also a quick talk by Robert Moss about the Green Communities Programme and upcoming events, and also by Brian Mason who told us about the recent news and plans for WALK.
